SSH Telnet
What is SSH? How do you control a server via SSH?
Secure Shell, better known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol that is used to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange info between a server and a client. Given that the data exchanged by the two sides is encrypted, a 3rd party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a favored means of handling a hosting account. The commands that could be executed are determined by the type of hosting service. On a shared web server, in particular, the possibilities are limited since you shall not have root access to the web server, so you may just create/move/delete files, create and unpack archives, export and import databases, etcetera. These are all actions that are executed in the shared hosting account and do not require a higher level of access. Through a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall be able to install server-side software or to restart the machine or just a certain service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted through a command line, but if you don't employ a UNIX-like OS, there are plenty of applications for other OSs, which you can employ to connect to the remote hosting server as well.

SSH Telnet in Cloud Hosting
If the
cloud hosting package that you’ve picked during the signup process features SSH access by default, you will be able to activate this feature with simply a mouse click inside your Hepsia CP. In case you have picked a different plan, the SSH access function could be added using the Upgrades menu and it will become available immediately. The information that you need to connect will be conveniently listed in the SSH section of the Control Panel - the hostname, the username and the port number. You may also set what password to use from the same place and you will be able to modify it anytime. All commands which are allowed are listed inside the Help articles which we have prepared for you, in addition to examples of the syntax that you have to use. An additional advantage of allowing SSH access to your account is that you'll be able to upload files using an SFTP connection.

SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Hosting
SSH access is included as standard with some of our
semi-dedicated server packages, while with others you will be able to include it through the hosting Control Panel if needed - even just for the current month. Either way, you could activate and de-activate the function with a single mouse click from the SSH section of the Control Panel. In the same spot, you'll see the server name, the port number and the username needed to connect to our platform. You will also find a box where you may enter the password that you would like to use, as it doesn't have to be the same as the one you use to log into the Control Panel. For better security, you could also change it as often as you want. A full list of the commands which can be executed inside a semi-dedicated account is supplied in our Knowledge Base, alongside the syntax and a number of instances. An extra feature after SSH access is enabled shall be the ability to connect to your hosting space via SFTP using any FTP client that supports this kind of connections.

SSH Telnet in VPS
You will be able to use SSH to handle your content no matter which
Linux VPS packages you pick when you sign up, due to the fact that all our plans come with this function as standard. You won't have to include or activate anything by hand - the moment your website hosting server is ready and you get the Welcome email with the login details, you can connect and begin working on your sites or any software that you want to set up and run on the hosting server. You'll have root-level access to the VPS and because the account shall be separated from all the other accounts within the physical web server, you'll be able to do anything you want with no restrictions. You can install any application that you need and which will run on a Linux-based hosting server, reboot any software server (web, database, game, media, etc.) and work with your files and databases easily and quickly.
